I'm an old high school friend of Robert Meggs. We graduated back in 1995 together. He and his sister, Amy, were really good friends of mine. I haven't spoken much to Amy in the past few years... and Robert's never been one to keep in touch. I'm not exactly excited about calling Amy to ask how her brother's doing now that I've heard he's possibly in prison. I don't know how to casually bring that up, but I am curious how the sentencing went.

Robert was always a nice guy... great sense of humor, very friendly. I'm sure it's a very heavy burden for him to know that his actions caused the death of another. I'm very saddened by the tragedy and loss of life involved in the accident. Robert was a bright guy -- an engineer working on high clearance special projects for the government. It's hard to imagine a promising career can be put into jeopardy over an accident... even one with profound consequences. Ethically, it's hard to balance justice, punishment, and what's best for all involved in situations like that, so I leave judgment to the state and the judge.

If you have time, please send me an e-mail with an update on this situation. I see it's been a few years. He may be out of prison by now if he had to serve time, or he may have only had to do a lot of community service. I found this on a random google search to see if I could find Robert on myspace or some other social networking site. I was hoping to get back in touch with him. It'd be good to know how things played out before I ask Amy anything about it. I don't want to upset her any more than I have to if he's still in prison.

Thanks

Thanks for the math refresher (spam blocker) - I think I need a greasemonkey script to increase the contrast on your links - took me several minutes to see "do this"! Or maybe I'm blind...

Hello, my name is Carrie Woodward with Brains on Fire (www.brainsonfire.com). I’m currently working on a video slide show for my client, Jason’s Deli. This slide show will be shown in their new concept store in Flower Mound, TX.

I was wondering if we could use the photos you took at a Jason’s and have posted on Flickr for this project?

Anselor, you need more posts! My RSS feed is getting stagnant!

I also wanted to say I recently got a xv6700 Pocket PC phone running WinMob 5.0, and I am commenting on your treo post with my pocket IE web browser over my integrated wifi. I didn't get any recommendations, but the price was great at $150. Plus, I finally ditched cingular and my number of dropped calls is plummeting!
