The Cheesburger Bill

The house just passed the ‘Cheeseburger Bill‘ aimed to curb lawsuits against fast food chains.

“As one judge put it, if a person knows or should know that eating copious orders of super-sized McDonald’s products is unhealthy and could result in weight gain, it is not the place of the law to protect them from their own excesses,” said Rep. James Sensenbrenner, R-Wisconsin, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee.

It makes me wonder, why wouldn’t this also apply to video games? We know there are violent video games that are meant for adults. In fact, they’re labeled as such. Shouldn’t it be the responsibility of the parents to not purchase these adult video games for young developing minds. How is it the place of the law to protect them from these excesses?
