‘Hunkered Down’
So here we are, ‘hunkered down’ in Melbourne. Outside we can see the rain blowing horizontally past our windows. The reporter on TV panned his camera around showing how everyone in Melbourne is without power. Here I am, though, still with power, cable, and internet (knock on wood).
So, this is the fourth hurricane to hit Florida in 6 weeks. The only other state to claim this is Texas back in the late 1800’s, and they’re probably just making it up anyway.
A benefit to being more or less trapped in the apartment, however, is we have no choice but to clean. The living room is finally looking decent. The kitchen is close too. The dining room is getting there, as is the bedroom. We can finally see the floor in the office now, which, I think, is a good sign.
Ha, just saw another reporter on-site in Melbourne. As she was reporting that the area is under curfew and no one is allowed to roam the street, we saw a car drive by behind her. Crazy people.
